Reporter: Last night at approximatley 3AM, John Southerwood called firefighters as his neighbours house was alight with flames, Mr Southerwood claimed he was awoken by the smell of burning wood and the howling of the local dogs. As he went outside to find out what was going on, he noticed his neighbours house on fire. Police are holding the name of the elderly man and are investigating what caused the fire. Upon intial investigations, it is believed that the elderly man had lit a candle and fell asleep while watching the television. In his sleep, he had knocked the candle onto the curtain which caught alight and began to burn.

Now in local news, a stabbing at a local bar has resulted in the death of a young man

Reporter - Voice over A fight at a local bar last night escalated into something much worse, as local barman, Josh Seniors, stabbed and killed a young man who was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Witnesses described the scene as horrific, when fighting broke out and crude remarks were made, Mr Seniors wielding a steak knife and drove it into the lungs of Jacob Stone.

Mr Stone was driven to the local hospital but died shortly after being loaded onto the ambulance.
Mr Seniors motive was that Mr Stone had commented about Mr Seniors mother in an inappropriate way, and Mr Seniors is very sensitive about his mother. After the comment was made, Mr Seniors went into a "fit of rage" as onlookers described and ended up stabbing Mr Stone.

Interview with Police officer Mr Seniors is currently being held and questioned, it is believed he will be charged with murder and questioned in court. No Further information is available.

Reporter - Mid Shot What information has been found however, is that Mr Seniors WILL be charged with the murder of Jacob Stones, and he will appear in court on the 17th of December.
The family of Mr. Stone is in shock and the funeral plans are already underway.

Car Crash Report: Two Men Killed In A Burning Car.

Two men are dead following a fiery head-on smash in Townsville’s Southside early this afternoon, one of the driver’s was incinerated.
Police say the crash, which involved a Ford Falcon station wagon and a Ute towing a trailer, occurred about 1pm on the Bruce Highway on Stuart Drive

"A small fire began in the Ute’s engine before engulfing the cabin into flames," QLD police said in a statement today.

Police Officer Interview:
"Two females travelling in the Ute were able to escape ... and despite attempts by a number of onlookers, the male driver of the Ute ... was unable to be rescued."

Reporter:
The man, aged in his late 50s, was instantly killed in the burning vehicle and the blaze was later ceased by the Queensland Fire.

A passing nurse stopped to give first aid to the Ford Falcon’s P-plate driver.

Despite attempts to resuscitate the elderly man, he died from a suspected heart attack related to his injuries.

Also the two women who escaped from the burning Ute have been taken to Townsville Hospital for medical treatment.

There were initial reports the crash also involved a motorcyclist, but a motorbike found at the crash site was being carried in the Ute’s trailer.

Motorists are warned to avoid the area as diversions remain in place on the Bruce Highway, via Stuart Drive.

Police have established a crime scene and an investigation is underway by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The double fatality follows another road death on the Bruce Highway. Now with a total of 283 deaths in Queensland Roads this year to date.

Also about 8 this morning, a passing motorist saw a Hyundai Excel which had left the road and slammed into a tree, off Charters Towers Road.

A 38 year old man was found dead behind the wheel.

News reporter At about 11 o’clock this morning, 4 armed men terrorised and robbed a local ANZ bank, the staff, petrified, could only look on and do what the robbers asked. Thankfully no one was hurt physically, but their mental status is not that well. The trauma and shock of the robbery has caused a lot of people to become depressed and paranoid. The community is helping the customers in everyway they can, comforting them, and providing support. Bank

Reporter – Close up The bank is closed for the rest of the day and the police are on the still investigating the robber’s identity, they have warned all people to be on the look out for a dark, black van with painted windows. This is the type of car believed to have been used in the get away. The robber’s were able to steal up to an including 500,000 dollars or more.
